PGA-Back the Magic!

He turned his magic

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

During transmission of the Memorial, my partner said that Tiger was playing very well, but still these sparks to which we had used for so many years did not appear.

If we look back at Woods' victory at Bay Hill and what he had done until the 16th hole Sunday at Muirfield Village, we could see a player in almost total control of his swing, hitting many fairways and greens, not holing anything of another world championship fight as all mortals do, but everything changed in one fell swoop.
The approach of 16 was not only perfect, but he had no margin of error could just get caught short in the rough, just finished hopefully long into the rough near the water and the bogey threatened the tournament.
The execution was so perfect that the ball got to the last breath for all fly back to the magic that only Tiger can produce, to exploit the people and for the rivals they heard that something big was happening.
Now, Tiger won his title 73 and tied Nicklaus in number of victories on the PGA Tour, but the record is not really looking for that, but of the 18 majors of the great Golden Bear.
In March last played in much the same way at Bay Hill to return to victory after nearly three years, but only two weeks seemed like a ghost when he arrived at Augusta. He looked lost during the week of the Masters and even gave me the impression that he first felt a sense of helplessness.
The numbers this week are very similar to those of the triumph in March and now must bear the Olympic Tiger the same feeling with which ended yesterday, but in the U.S. Open will be a challenge even greater.
Not all U.S. Open tennis are similar enough to compare with Winged Foot Hills Shinnecok to realize this. There are some more open than others from the tee, or Shinnecok Oakmont case and others like Winged Foot or Baltusrol where the player gets to the tee and has no choice but to hit the shot the hole calls.
Olympic is in this latter category. His grove is so huge pits and frames so that if the hole bends to the left, the player must hit a draw with the tee shot. By this I tell you that no one can or Tiger from the tee shot that hit the more confidence you have, but should follow the pattern of each of the holes.
The court of the U.S. Open this year is not the longest, only slightly more than 7100 yards, but playing the fairway will be key to hitting the tiny greens of Olympic. It is true that Woods will be released to his 3-wood that dominates much better than the driver, but that will pull further into greens that will surely be much more firm than this week.
The magician took out of a hat one of his best this week at Memorial rabbits, but make no mistake, his greatest act he wants to do in the scenarios that matter most. That is your challenge.
